A LITTLE BIT A MUL-CH IN MY LIFE – IN YOUR BEST LOU VEGA VOICE. SEE HOW SOME HARD WORK CAN CHANGE THE CURB APPEAL OF YOUR HOME. Have you ever been so lazy you let your roots get a little grayer before going to the salon, ignore forget to water the plants, or straight up neglect the yard? Yeah, me either….never happens…I was just wondering if you had that problem. But really, a few weeks ago I noticed how horrible the yard looked. The flowers died and never got cleaned up, the palms need to be trimmed, the mulch was gone, and honestly, I was embarrassed. We ignored it all year last year, and now we are paying the price. Disclosure Statement: The links in this post contain affiliate links and I will receive a small commission if you make a purchase after clicking on my link. Click here for the full disclosure. Like all our projects, it starts with a clean slate. Day #1 First, we clean up the dead plant and flower junk. We cut the brown crusty plant death off and hope no giant octopus’ climb out. Day #2 The boy child and I got out our rakes and removed the mulch. While, I raked it all into a pile and he shoveled it out of there. Day #3 This day involved some lawn mowing and fertilization of the grass. I didn’t get too involved because I mow the lawn like I cut hair…needless to say I miss some spots. Day #4 Special delivery: A large amount of black mulch was delivered, and the real work began. (This was a cheaper option then buying bags of mulch – because we needed a LOT.) The WHOLE family got involved. It was a chain…girls wanted to use the pitchfork, so they took turns loading the wheelbarrow then driving the wheelbarrow. Liam dumped it in the beds, and I raked it into place while Kris dug out the water spout rock river. Day #5 It is the final stretch – Kris made a new rock bed. Liam finished the back yard mowing and weed whacking. And I took pictures. Seeing the before and afters just make me more embarrassed but also PROUD of how hard the family worked to get it looking so good!!!! Drum role please 🎶 Funny I look at these and think I can see the grass getting greener…maybe that’s just wishful thinking. 🤷🏻‍♀️ There is a rose though…🌹 I want to point out the difference a little mulch makes to the curb appeal of a house. The picture with the rock bed has such different contrasts. You can’t even see some of the bushes in the before picture. And we did all of this after work and school. One day I was sweating and the girls said I was crazy to not have my jacket on. The next day we were in short sleeves and running from bees. The thing is – it’s done and now when spring stays for good…we don’t have to waste our time on these yard chores. We can enjoy the weather and eat some of Kris’s world famous grilled chicken wings 🎉!!!! Here’s to big changes with little effort! Cheers 🥂🍻!! Happy gardening,
