After our 5 hour journey to Devils Fork State Park in upstate South Carolina, we were all exhausted but very excited for camping day 1!!!

Dad put us all to work immediately, the girls were in charge of clearing the sticks from the tent pad.

The two of us put the 8 man tent up in about 20 minutes. And since the boy came with us, he got his own tent. That was up in about 5 minutes.

Kris set up the kitchen stuff and the girls and I found firewood. Liam found the water and made several trips to supply us with dish water, cooking water, and everything but DRINKING…..

Next, we set up the inside of the tents.

We had 2 queen size blow up mattresses; one for the girls and one for the parents.

The girls set up their sleeping bags, pillows, and moved their “fun stuff” to their side of the tent. I combined 2 sleeping bags into one large one so the parents could sleep in one….this proved to be a slightly bad idea as we couldn’t move every well inside the bag….oh well, lesson learned.

Boy got a self inflating camping pad with his sleeping bag.

Kris hung the hammocks and the girls started recording. We have soooo much video to go through….I don’t even know where to begin.

We ate quick sandwiches and everyone relaxed.

When it was time for dinner, we started a fire and pulled out the burgers, hot dogs, and soup. Yes, soup. Since the picky eater won’t eat a burger, she wanted canned soup. Whatever. We made it work.

After dinner, the girls went fishing with Dad and the boy and I played cards.

When it got dark, we roasted marshmallows, slapped them on graham crackers and chocolate. S’Mores!!!!!

The girls went to bed around 830pm, I couldn’t believe it. They went right to sleep too. No fighting about not having a TV. One of them watched a phone for about 10 minutes and she was out. The other….just put her head on a pillow and started sawing logs!

Day 1 was a HUGE success! I was so nervous about how we were going to get the kids to sleep. It was a little chilly – I think it was about 45 degrees at it’s coldest but no one complained!!!! It was so awesome!!!

Ready for day 2!!!
