Again, I lack the motivation to move from the comfort of my cozy new front room. Just cold enough to light the fire (flip the switch…it’s gas 😢).
Since this is day 2 of my organizational journey, I decided that I needed to make a plan for the rest of this cleaning and organizing process. Using the note app on my phone, I made a list of all the places in the house I want to reorganize and clean up!!!
Nothing fancy….just a way to keep track and feel good when removing stuff.
So let’s begin today –
My dining room is in my purview and honestly it’s disgusting.
The dining room needs a makeover!!!
My husband brought home 2 poinsettias because ‘they were just going to throw them away at work!’ Ugggghhhhh! My youngest LOVES to play school and since that is the room I do most of MY homework in….she follows me in and we play math games and she ‘teaches’ me about our workstations for the day. Cracks me up!
Anyway, I have let it get bad!!! She has dry erase markers, sharpies, white boards, old work papers of mine, and pencils all over the table. My husband has a collection of jackets. It needs some serious help!!!
Again…..where do I even start?! Ok let’s throw away the plants I didn’t want to begin with. My excuse – poison for the dogs. All of my daughters stuff goes into 2 bags and goes to her room. She will go through these bags later. Return jackets to correct place.
But alas…..I get side tracked.
Why do I have all these cookbooks? So I went through them and separated them into keep, give away, and throw away piles! I had 4 throw away books – gross covers, ripped pages and really outdated material.
These found new homes thanks to some great friends of mine.
And I got this…..
Ahhhhhhhh feels good!
And of course, no makeover is complete without a change in plant placement and thorough cleaning. Add in some cute placemats and napkins with a cute simple centerpiece.
Seriously….note to self: DO NOT LET THIS HAPPEN AGAIN!!!!
Daughter now has a big deluxe utility tote full of play school stuff. That’s where it will go when she’s done teaching me. I let her keep her easel there but….moved it out of the way.
Remember: just start somewhere. Throw away what you don’t need!!! And don’t feel bad about purging old stuff!
Be well,
