Organize the Chaos to Maximize your time!
INSIDE: ORGANIZE YOUR DAILY CHAOS TO MAXIMIZE YOUR TIME AND MAKE YOUR LIFE MORE PRODUCTIVE
It’s official, my organized chaos has taken over. Time for a reboot.
We’ve had a busy week…again.
School ended, oldest child started his 2 summer jobs, country music fest in town, and lots of visitors on their way here. And the state of our house is well reflected in all those things…except the part where we are expecting guests.

No filter here:
It’s moments like these that I reflect on the fun I’ve had with my family these last few days. Instead of clearing clutter, I’ve lived in the moments that make memories. And I’m ok with that.
However, as we get ready for another busy week, it’s important to have a truly fresh start.
Last week, we found a leak under the kitchen sink. Kris used his big brain and master engineering skills to fix the leak…BUT the damage had been done. The wood under the sink stinks! I’ll tell you all about it here.
I’m challenging myself to a ONE DAY cleaning spree. I don’t have ALL day but let’s see what I can do in a few hours.
As always, I like to start with the room everyone sees when they enter the house.
All these pillows need to be washed. They are covered with dirt and grime from a few black fur babies.
But with all my Sunday laundry…the pillows must wait. I enlisted a helper, for about 5 minutes and then I lost her to the cute pups.
A quick dust, vacuum, and repositioning of pillows and candle sticks and we were set in here.
And onto the kitchen.
Book bags were emptied on to the kitchen table and left there. Why do teachers send home all those workbooks? 🤷🏻♀️ I do NOT keep them!!
PURGE baby!!!
A few rules to live by when tidying:
- Never leave a room empty handed. If you need to return items to their proper place, leave that room with something that belongs elsewhere. For example – I took the bag of markers from the kitchen table to my daughter’s room, while I was there, I brought down some of the dirty laundry she missed.
- Make the kids clean up their messes. Obviously, I did not do a great job of this in the moment, but I made the kids sort through their belongings and put them away.
- Clean as you go. Dust, wipe, sweep, mop, whatever THAT room requires. BECAUSE –
- One room at a time. If you try to do more, you will never finish one complete room.
I cleaned the top of the kitchen island. It was cluttered with stuff from the concert and driving me nuts! The center piece of the island is a catch all metal fruit holder but we use it to store things that have no home yet…I know HORRIBLE idea but…it works for us.
Anyway, I cleared that out. Cleaned off all the counter tops, except the one being used to hold the kitchen sink displacements. And finally, I felt some breathing room.
Now, you know how I feel about laundry. Being that it’s a Sunday….I must finish this pile! And while I was at it….I cleared some things off the top of the washer and dryer. Put them where they belong…🤦🏻♀️
All in a days work! Now I can relax and feel good about having people come into our home.
