INSIDE: HOW TO HOST A PREPPY BIRTHDAY PARTY FOR A TEENAGE GIRL. EVERYTHING YOU NEED WITHOUT BREAKING THE BANK AND STILL CREATE A MEMORABLE PARTY! I did not know this was a thing…but I guess all 13 year old girls want a preppy birthday party. What does that mean you ask? I had NO IDEA! But I took to Pinterest and found some realistic and NOT so realistic ideas. Keeping with my Party Planning Guide – I went to work. Disclosure Statement: The links in this post contain affiliate links and I will receive a small commission if you make a purchase after clicking on my link. Those funds help keep this site alive and kickin’ but it doesn’t cost YOU a thing! Click here for the full disclosure. If you have never used my planning guide before, what is wrong with you?? Kidding, but you should definitely start, like NOW!!! Come follow us on socials – Pinterest, Facebook, and Insta. 1 – Theme – check – preppy AKA – lots of pink and gold, smiley faces, lighting bolts, and stars – I’m not sure what makes this preppy BUT….I’m old so what do I know? Not sure of a theme? NO problem – check out my Birthday Party suggestions here. 2 – Location We decided to have it at our house, and against my better judgment…AGAIN….a sleepover. I mean she is going to be 13…BUT NO MORE after this! I mean it this time!!! Have you found a different place to have parties?? Let us know, we are always open to suggestions (and to get people out of the house). 3 – Date Her birthday fell on a Saturday this year so we picked that day to start our shenanigans. Remember to stay away from holidays and other birthdays. 4 – Invitations This one was a bit difficult for me. The young lady wanted to make, that’s right, MAKE her own invitations. Due to the sleepover, I put a limit on how many kiddos could be invited. So she literally made 6 individual invitations. On the invitation, she wrote hibachi for dinner but in the end we decided it was too expensive and time consuming – so we went with Chick Fil-A catering. If you want an invitation but don’t want to hand write, try these out – at Etsy and Zazzle. 5 – Decorations With A LOT of help from the birthday girl, we found some great things on Amazon. We also got the girls some glasses like these and props for pictures. Then she decided everyone needed to sleep in a TeePee (check out how we made them “coming soon”). We purchased individual trays like these and used the Cricut to put everyone’s name on them. ****UPDATE: I never made the post about making the TeePees because they were a disaster. Just rent them! The price for the dowels and twine plus the irritation from trying to get them correctly – not worth it. I promise….just rent them! 6 – Food When you have a picky eater as the birthday girl, you have to be creative with your menu. This year was easy, Chick Fil-A to the rescue. Nuggets, macaroni and cheese, and fruit. Unfortunately, I did not get pictures of the set up. Why you ask? Because I like to live in the moment these days. I swear these kids are growing so quickly. I’m waiting for someone to come pinch me and say….just kidding, they are still babies and they need you to do everything for them. Don’t get me wrong, I love their independence and ability to be self sufficient, I just worry that I’m gonna miss all of this! Hence, I put my phone down and enjoy. I digress……… Of course no birthday party is complete without dessert. Alas, my child does not like cake but will eat cupcakes. So we bought some generic ones for the grocery store (Publix has amazing ones if you have one near you) and stuck these decorations in the tops. Also to avoid spillage we opted for these cute Drink boxes instead of cups. 7 – Goody bags As always, give the kids something to go home with but don’t make the other parents mad…. Here are the bags the birthday girl picked – and then she added makeup bags, candy, and bracelets. And we let them take their trays home. There wasn’t anything we were going to be able to do with them after the party. Overall, it was a fun evening. Most of the girls did not sleep under the TeePee, they couldn’t see the TV…..or so they said. About 2 weeks after we did all of this, I discovered you can actually RENT the TeePees…………. Happy Partying,

INSIDE: STRANGER THINGS BIRTHDAY PARTY FOOD, DECOR, AND MORE It’s about that time….again!!! A certain someone is turning double digits and she is exploiting her parents. She wants $30 this and $30 that. Well, that is not going to happen!!! BUT a Stranger Things Birthday Party can be arranged! Keeping with the greatest party planning guide, we got to work. Disclosure Statement: The links in this post contain affiliate links and I will receive a small commission if you make a purchase after clicking on my link. Those funds help keep this site alive and kickin’ but it doesn’t cost YOU a thing! Click here for the full disclosure. Theme Let’s be REALLY clear, this kid was so scared of the first season of Stranger Things, I think she had nightmares for weeks. But when the 3rd season came out, she apparently she found her courage….and she watched every episode of Season 3….asking a million questions because she refused to go back and watch the previous 2 seasons. Location I seriously dislike sleepovers, but double digits are a big deal…..so ONE LAST sleepover at home. I mean it this time!!!! Date I screwed up the dates. I thought we would be ok to have it the weekend before her birthday on a Saturday (like we usually do) BUT….I forgot we had a wedding to go to. After I printed, and handed out the invitations, I had to switch it to Friday night. I just told the parents it was on Friday as they RSVP’ed. Although, I knew most moms already and made them aware as soon as I realized my error 🤦🏻‍♀️ Invitation As usual, we went to Etsy for the invitations. This one was great because I could edit the invite to say what I wanted. We printed them on some pretty card stock and sent them to school. Decorations Stranger Things is not a popular theme…YET…so we had to come up with a lot of own decorations. Alphabet Letters I wanted to re-create the letters on the wall with Christmas lights, without spending a ton of money. Supplies Directions Scoops Ahoy Sign We found this sign here. It didn’t print out perfectly but it got the job done for our purposes. Balloons I grabbed some balloons with a demegorgan, Stranger Things logo, and the Christmas lights alphabet. Food Since we were having trouble finding Stranger Thing birthday party themed decorations, we decided to use the food as part of our decor. We found these Stranger Things themed plates and napkins on Amazon. And of course, Eleven’s favorite food – don’t worry the waffles aren’t actually in the box. UPDATE: This party was before season 4 came out – your can find ALL sorts of Stranger Things decor now – Check out some of this ideas Since it was a sleepover and I knew the kids would be dropped off after parents got out of work, we had to do snacks and dinner. We ordered pizza for dinner, but had this set up as they all arrived. Like my chalkboard stands? I cannot remember where I got them, but I found these on Amazon that are very similar. The birthday girl did not want a cake or cupcakes. She wanted ICE CREAM! Well, I happened to remember that Baskin Robbins released some special Stranger Things ice cream in July. I called the local Baskin and was super surprised!!! They had some of these quart sized Stranger Things buckets left!!!! I got all the birthday girl’s favorite ice cream flavors and added some rainbow sherbet. This part was a surprise. She has no idea I found these containers. So when I pulled them out, she said “you did all this for me?” We used some Dollar Tree cups to set out the toppings. I scooped the ice cream for the girls into these cups and they decorated their ice cream. I did not want a bunch of kids on sugar highs running around so I only did 4 toppings. We called them “Dustin’s Desserts…” Skittles, M&M’s, “Mike’s Mashed” Oreos, and rainbow sprinkles…..oh yeah…white and milk chocolate morsels. Games This is usually my favorite part but 10 year olds aren’t into games. So we played Stranger Things Bingo and “Guess the Quote.” Guess the Quote The birthday girl made a list of 10 of her favorite quotes from Stranger Things and mouthed them to her friends. Since a lot of these kiddos had not seen the shows, it was REALLY funny to see what they came up with. ***There was a change in plans, I thought we could have a campfire but it ended up being REALLY cold and no one wanted “Hopper’s Hot Chocolate.” So we skipped this part!!! But you could add it to your party They opened presents and then we played charades. Most of the girls were excited to play this one. After they got all their wiggles out, they laid down and watched a show….it was a record. Everyone in bed by 10:30. I think they were all asleep by 11:15pm! Up around 6:30am. We had Eggo Waffles for breakfast in honor of Eleven. And then the girls made some crafts that I bought as goody bag treats. Goody Bags We went really easy on these. White bags with these labels. We put 80’s style sunglasses, rainbow pencils, Stranger Things bracelets, bath bombs, and Christmas crafts in each bag Only one sweatshirt was left behind. I’m always so amazed by this. How well kids actually keep track of their stuff. It’s crazy! Have you seen Stranger Things? Would you be brave enough to tackle a theme without much help of pre-made decorations? Happy Party Planning,

INSIDE : UNIQUE AND EXCITING IDEAS FOR A DOG-THEMED BIRTHDAY PARTY, MAKING FOR ONE HAPPY KID AND MANY HAPPY PUPS What do you do when the little person turning 7 has an upcoming birthday? Easy…..you help her pick a theme centered around the thing she loves the most in the world (maybe more than her parents)….. Come see how we planned our own dog themed birthday party! Disclosure Statement: The links in this post contain affiliate links and I will receive a small commission if you make a purchase after clicking on my link. Those funds help keep this site alive and kickin’ but it doesn’t cost YOU a thing! Click here for the full disclosure. Theme DOGS!!!!!!!!!! Using my trusty birthday planning guide, we set off to make an awesome party for our silly little dog lover! Location Since sleepovers are out of the question and I’m not interested in lugging party supplies all over the place…our house was our location. Date Our date always depends on weather and other events. So we picked the weekend just after her actual birthday. We knew her friends would be in town, no one else had a party, and the weather was going to cooperate. Invitation This year, we found a cute dog invitation on….you guessed it, ETSY! Decorations I was short on time because…well…just because (I have an overflowing plate)…I went to Target for my decorations. Dinner plates, dessert plates, cups, tablecloth, napkins, and stickers…all with doggies!!! Food We started at 2:30pm so I didn’t go overboard with food. I figured lunch was over and we don’t want to ruin everyone’s dinner. So we kept with the dog theme. Menu Pups in a Blanket Supplies Directions Paw-tato Chips We picked the birthday girl’s two favorite flavors – BBQ and wavy Fetch Sticks Pup-corn I took the easy way out here….microwaved popcorn Fruit and Veggie Tray Ladies and gentlemen, I’m proud to report that I made this cake from scratch. Lots of texts to an expert but when all was said and done, one mom asked me if I bought it from a well-known bakery in town. I was so shocked I didn’t even realize where she said. Games Games are my favorite. I always plan way too many and the kids never get to all of them. This year was no different: Pin the Tail to the Dog I drew the outline of a dog on a poster board. The birthday girl’s older sister finished the drawing then they both colored it. The kids all made their own tails when we started. Paw Necklaces As part of their goody bags, all the kids made a necklace or bracelet. Supplies Directions Vet Station The birthday girl gathered all of her stuffed pups and we made a vet station. Using these “tools” and one of my lab jackets the kids had a blast “healing” the puppies. Dog Dress Up The kids dressed up using eyes, ears, noses, mouths, and accessories Goody Bags I came up with a GENIUS plan for the goody bags, if I do say so myself. How can I get rid of all the cake/cupcakes and not spend a ton of money on useless toys for goody bags?!? Easy – send the cupcakes home with the kids! The birthday girls helped decorate these. We used an Oreo as the paw pad and M&Ms for the toes. I found these “to go” containers and the cupcakes fit perfectly into them. We took a rainbow stamp pad and a paw print stamp to make very special “To Go” containers for our dog themed birthday party. We went easy with the goody bags. I used these bags to stencil pups on them using something similar to this. We had black and white acrylic paints already. Added some stickers and POOF! Then we put the “to go” boxes with the cupcakes inside the stenciled goody bags with a few small bags of Jelly Bellies. I do have a soapbox moment with this dog themed birthday party – if you don’t do anything else – RSVP to every party!!!!! I’m not kidding, I had 4 kids show up that did not RSVP. I didn’t have enough goody bags. Have you ever had that happen? Kids show up that you didn’t plan on having? What did you do to avert the disaster? Happy Party Planning,

INSIDE: CHECK OUT ALL THE MINECRAFT THEMED IDEAS AND LEARN HOW TO PLAN A MINECRAFT BIRTHDAY PARTY At this point, it might be so last year…..but we had fun!! Planning our Minecraft Birthday Party was EPIC! Theme A certain little girl wanted to celebrate Minecraft style. And so we did. Using the fail-proof planning guide, I was able to pull off a memorable party, keep kids entertained, and we had a sleepover too. PHEW! My favorite part of this theme is that this game doesn’t seem to outgrown people. It’s like Legos….when you’re bored, you can always go build, or destroy, something. Location Easy, she HAD to have a sleepover. So our house was the clear choice. I like to have parties at our house for several reasons – no hauling decorations to places, we can make it as short or long as we want, and it tends to be cheaper. Invitation I don’t even know if there is another place to get invitations at this point? Etsy of course…. Decorations Decorations were harder for me to find, but since this was several years ago, I looked to see what the options are now……….HOLY COW…..people caught onto this theme. This whole package seems like the easiest option I was able to find some Minecraft wrapping paper so I wrapped up 2 poster boards and used them as a back drop for pictures. I also wrapped some empty boxes and stacked them near the food table. We kept it simple with Minecraft plates, table cloth, and napkins. Food With the the birthday girl’s help, we made food that was centered around the game and labeled them for all to see. I found the placecards on Pinterest. Menu It was a sleepover, so I need to make sure I had dinner food for the kids. AND of course……the cake and cupcakes. Games I had several hours to entertain these kiddos, so first – we made Minecraft character heads. I purchased poster boards in bulk from Target, grabbed some sticky notes, and set the kids out to make their characters. After we made our characters, we made our mining tools. We taped large craft sticks together and covered them in aluminum foil. We also printed some word searches and coloring pages to keep everyone busy while I was helping them tape and put the final touches on their axes. They watched a movie, of course they couldn’t agree on one movie…..so the birthday girl got to decide. Goody Bags The next morning, I sent them home with goody bags filled with stickers, pencils, and amazingly…..all their clothes, hair brushes, and only one toothbrush was left behind!! EVERYONE wins!!!! Do your kids still play Minecraft? Mine love it….I think they would have a repeat party like this one….what do you think? Happy Party Planning,

INSIDE: HOW TO THROW A SUPER FUN SESAME STREET BIRTHDAY PARTY COMPLETE WITH DECORATION IDEAS AND SIMPLE GAMES! Two little people that I know loved Sesame Street when they were about to turn 3. Since their first dual birthday party was such a success and I had so much fun planning it, I decided to throw them a Sesame Street Birthday Party. Disclosure Statement: The links in this post contain affiliate links and I will receive a small commission if you make a purchase after clicking on my link. Those funds help keep this site alive and kickin’ but it doesn’t cost YOU a thing! Click here for the full disclosure. Theme Using my birthday planning guide, I started with the theme as above, can you tell me how to get….how to get to Sesame Street!!!! Location and Date We picked a date based on warmer weather. And we wanted to be able to have another bounce house for the kids (it was a huge success last year) so we decided to have the party at my house. Keeping in mind that we need it to be warm, not hot, and relatively rain free (away from Spring rains on the coast), we choose May 9th. Low and behold – we had a tropical storm come through (three weeks before the technical start of “hurricane season”). So emergently we brought the party inside. We already had tables and chairs, thank goodness! Let me talk about the tables and chairs for a minute, we borrowed them from the hotel my husband runs but….I would have rented them if need be. This is the second year in a row they have come in handy for eating and playing our games with kids. Invitations Of course, I found the perfect invitation on Etsy for $12. It was more expensive than most because it included a picture of the birthday kids. I printed them at Walgreens, as it is the best option. Decorations For decorations, I got on Pinterest and found some really cool things to help us decorate the house. I used this tutorial to make different kinds of Sesame Street characters. I stopped at my favorite place to pick up the rest of the decorations. Sesame Street plates, cups, and napkins were readily available at my local Target…..so that’s where I went! Food Since the party was rather close to lunch time, I wasn’t sure how much food to make. So here is our Sesame Street Birthday Party food: Menu I forgot to print the Sesame Street food labels ahead of time, so I made makeshift labels with cardstock. Instead of having characters everywhere, I used table cloths that were plain colors like this yellow one. I made a cake so the kids could have candles to blow out. BUT……I wrote all pretty on top of it and asked my oldest child to sprinkle some funfetti on it….. The star of the food was the cupcakes, as always!!! They were made by a family friend and she got so super creative with these. The cupcakes matched the icing, the details on their eyes, and the cookies for mouths, she really outdid herself. Seriously, I think my dad (who hates cake) ate 12 of them! Games The original plan was a bouncy house with the Sesame Street characters but the storm cancelled those plans and we were forced to think on the fly. Keeping children entertained can be challenging, especially with short notice. So we went with: When there was a break in the wind and rain, we took them outside and let them blow bubbles. It was incredible, the kids would blow bubbles and the neighborhood would fill with the bubbles. Goody Bags Goody bags for this party were limited. We had bubbles, one bag of M&Ms, and they took home their playdough. I know my party planning guide said NOTHING messy. But in this case, we had to use some of our “goodies” for the party given the circumstance. We had a lot of fun despite the weather, hope this helps guide you for your Sesame Street Birthday Party too! Happy planning, Have you tried any of these ideas? Share your photos with us!!!

INSIDE : COME SEE HOW TO THROW THE PERFECT SUPERHERO BIRTHDAY PARTY FOR KIDS – GAME IDEAS, FOOD, AND GOODIE BAG IDEAS INCLUDED! Everyone loves a good superhero birthday party. Am I right? Well, our duo (my youngest and my nephew) are no different. So using my ultimate party planning guide, I started the process. Want a copy of the guide? Get it here. Disclosure Statement: The links in this post contain affiliate links and I will receive a small commission if you make a purchase after clicking on my link. Those funds help keep this site alive and kickin’ but it doesn’t cost YOU a thing! Click here for the full disclosure. Theme The kids decided on the theme this year. They came to an agreement and it was perfect for both of them. Superheroes! My nephew is a SPIDERMAN freak and my daughter loves Wonder Woman. Location Keeping the superhero theme in mind, we decided my house would be the best place to have this party. However, I am told that trampoline parks will help with this theme but don’t discount Build-a-Bear and rooms you can rent in hotels, recreation centers, and community centers. Date Check with other parents to make sure you don’t plan parties on the same day. Also, if you are planning on outdoor activites, be sure to check the weather otherwise you have to be able to move the games inside. Hence why trampoline parks would be a GREAT place to have this theme party! Invitations I am not a comic book girl, but I LOVE MARVEL movies!!!! Iron Man, Thor, X-men, Dead Pool…..yes please! Oh but the kids….they like them too. They had no idea that their 2 favorites were from different comic “worlds” so I had to find an invitation that had Spiderman and Wonder Woman. Who came to the rescue?? Etsy. That site has saved my life. I swear!! For $6.75 I got this cute invitation. Decorations This may have been the easiest party to do decorations for because Target had all the plates, table covers, and napkins we needed. Since we had to find Justice League and Avengers, Target had a great mix of each kind to make everyone happy. And of course, I used my REDCARD and got 5% off my entire purchase!!! Then I turned my focus to games and getting the kids outside!! We also used toys the kids already had to help us decorate. Food I kept the food simple, it was at 3pm so I didn’t feel obligated to feed them a meal. Menu Oh boy…..the cupcakes were so special as they were made by a special family friend for the birthday kiddos! Games I had the most fun planning games for the kids. Since it was a superhero birthday party, all games were centered around the heroes. First, we gave them their superhero costumes which included masks and capes. Some kids came dressed in some kind of superhero shirt or costume and even a few moms and dads!!! Then we went outside to play our games. Frisbee toss Supplies Directions Spider Web Throwing Supplies Directions Hulk Weight Lifting Challenge Supplies Directions Superman Wind Bowling Contest This was a simple game to plan, because I just grabbed some bubbles and put them in a basket. One bottle per kid! Sky Scraper Fly By Challenge We pulled out our small outdoor slide then told the kids to slide down, jump down, or scale up the side. Goodie Bags The goodie bags for this party were filled with all the things we used for our games including silly string (if there was any left), bubbles, frisbees, capes, and masks as well as the certificate they earned. We had a lot of fun with this party. I hope this helps you have a great superhero birthday party too!!!! Happy Party Planning, What kind of birthday parties do you have? Give us some ideas!!!!
