Under the Kitchen Sink Do-Over

INSIDE: UNDER THE KITCHEN SINK DO-OVER. I MADE CRITICAL MISTAKES AND NOW I AM READY TO CORRECT THEM. COME SEE HOW I REDO UNDER THE KITCHEN SINK TO MAKE IT MORE USER FRIENDLY AND ORGANIZED.

I wrote a post about organizing under my kitchen sink a few years ago. Well, it failed. Failed! Honestly, it was better than it was before but I’ve become a better organizer so….I am going to show you a better way to organize under the kitchen sink.

First, let me show you how it was before I did anything:

Then we got this one:

It’s not much different present day. However, we have let things go wild. There were two and three of the same bottles….

How did this happen?

Easy answer – I pushed things into the back and couldn’t see them anymore. So I bought more…. Well, the other day I went to get a bottle from the back and it had this blue gooey stuff all over it. I figured I should probably investigate.

So today – I emptied the cabinet and found this:

Clearly something fell over and I didn’t know it until now.

Ok, let’s focus on how to make this better.

What you need:

First

Take all of your stuff out from under the sink. I put all of them in the sink and ran some hot water to rinse them off.

Second

Remove old contact paper, if you had some. Clean the cabinet with Mrs. Meyers. Replace with new contact paper if desired. I highly recommend this because gross stuff happens under here and removing contact paper is WAY easier than elbow grease!

Third

Put your new shelf organizers in the place you want them. These new organizers are much friendlier to the layout of my cabinet. You can place them wherever it is convenient for you.

Finally

Replace your merged stuff into the cabinet. Keep like things together.

Maybe you will come up with something like this:

I put all my extra sponges in the plastic bin to keep them tamed and then I know how many I have at all times.

I decided to use the shelf organizer to hold the garage bags in place.

Personally, I think this is a much better under the sink organization. What do you think?

Happy Organizing,
