Unique Decorating Ideas for Christmas

INSIDE : COME FIND OUT SOME UNIQUE DECORATING IDEAS FOR CHRISTMAS – TOTALLY NOT BORING!

I love to decorate my home for each season or holiday. However, I am HORRIBLE about doing it with time to spare……so this is my pledge to you. I will do better in 2019! Starting with 2018 Christmas…..

Thanksgiving was over and I had all the Christmas decorations in the front room the next day! No shopping for me…..I don’t like fighting other people, especially in front of my kids, and honestly, I have a short FUSE…..so I avoid the trouble and chose to be more productive on Black Friday….

Where to start?

Well, we’ve had A LOT of rain this fall so…..we will have to take what we can get with the outside decor.

I was able to stick Santa in the garden and add the pallet trees to the front of the house between rain showers.

Living Room

I have this beautiful formal living room that I use very sparingly, and not on purpose…..so it is usually my center of decoration. There is a mantle, with this great open wainscoting “chimney stack,” I should decorate it for every season, holiday, major life event, and even birthday parties. So why don’t I?

When we built this house I purchased matching stockings for all of us from Pottery Barn. They don’t have them anymore (sad face!) so when my sister and nephew started coming for Christmas, I had to get different stockings for them.

Not gonna lie……I love my NEW wreath. I didn’t want to over do the greens and reds, so I went with a neutral poinsettia. Guess where I found it???? YUP……Target, check it out.

My next project was the console table at the front door. Again, feeling like this is a great place for decorations. Eventually I need to invest in some paint and change the look a little bit…..more on that in the future. We found this runner at Homegoods, the trees came from a local pottery warehouse, and the little snowmen came from a little boutique in Banner Elk, NC. We went there last year AFTER Christmas and found some amazing deals!!!

Kitchen

And the focal point of my entire life…..the kitchen table. I don’t usually do much with this because it is the HUB of the house. This year we are remaining clutter free so…….let’s see how this goes.

My mom gave me the candles and glass holder for my wedding 10 years ago and they have all survived. The bamboo is always there, I am a believer! The vase was purchased from Homegoods and I made the arrangement with Christmas floral I’ve had for years. Place mats were last year’s clearance at TARGET! And don’t forget Rudolph back there…..he was a score from Kirkland’s a few years ago. Our scout elf, Abby, likes to cause trouble with that reindeer…there was duct tape involved and our children still talk about it. EPIC!

Rest of the house

A few more items scattered around the house, and we have ourselves a Merry little house!

The green ceramic tree reminds me of my Grammy, it made me very happy to find one just like she had!

Can’t forget our Holiday Card holder…made by our very own Gru just for his minions…..

Pallet wood and clothes pins…kids painted the clothes pins, I painted the tree…we will see what happens when we add some cards.

My actual Christmas tree is up, but not decorated…it needs something more but I don’t know what yet. I’ll get back to you on that.

Happy decorating,
