How to Clean Your Countertop Ice Machine

INSIDE: COME LEARN HOW TO CLEAN YOUR COUNTERTOP ICE MACHINE USING OUR EASY STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE

Do you have a countertop ice machine? Have you been thinking about purchasing one but reading the reviews has you scared to clean it?

Well fear not! I’ve got you covered!!!

A few years ago, I purchased this counter top ice machine for the office. We all LOVE the nugget ice (commonly found at Sonic or Chick Fil A) and I thought this would make everyone happy. However, it is quiet a chore to clean it. Even when you follow manufacturers recommendations, it leaves a strange film behind.

This is the one we have found here

So I decided to try this out

Here is where we start

To be clear, we use Brita filtered water and some of this film is from the charcoal left by the Brita filter.

Our ice is not black, brown or otherwise gross looking.

We empty the machine of ice.

I just took the ice basket out and dumped it.

Empty the tubes in the back of the machine that hold the recycled water.

I cleaned the basket with Dawn dish soap. Because of the amount of charcoal, I ran another plain water cycle through the tubes.

Filled it back up with water, dropped in the tablet of Active Ice Maker Cleaner per instructions. Then I ran 3 cycles of ‘self clean.’

Emptied that water through the tubes. Two more cycles of clean water, and we were ready for ice again!

I was amazed at how well this worked!!! It took me about 20 minutes to do all of this and the ice just tastes better!

Happy Cleaning,
