INSIDE: CHECK OUT THE LATEST FURNITURE MAKEOVER, A MODERN STYLE SIDE TABLE.

I have officially gone MAD 🤣! I literally want to paint every piece of furniture in my house…..nothing is safe!

Oh well…….

Today, I am tackling a little piece of furniture that sat in the corner of my front room, collecting dust mostly. It held 2 plants and has great structure. Just not crazy about the cherry looking wood and of course, it no longer goes with the other furniture….hint hint…..🙃

So here is the modern style side table before I unleashed my madness onto it –

See, good bones, good structure…just a little blah in the color department for my current liking.

Let me be very clear, part of this project was done after a few glasses of 🍷…..desperate times people, coping the best way I can! I know I’m safe from judgement here!!!

Moving on, I have left over chalk paint from my console table makeover and I really like the idea of cohesive colors without being all matchy matchy. So, the idea was to switch up the color scheme but stick with the main idea.

First order of business

I gave the table a scrub with Mrs. Meyers.

Start the paint

Remember the caveat I just gave about the wine….I totally forgot to tape the top off before starting to paint….so I may have gotten some paint in places I didn’t intend for it to go……………🤭

Correct your errors

Well, the next day, I realized my errors, and set out to correct them the only way I could – I got more wine! Just kidding…..I sanded down some areas that received a little extra attention.

It worked out well to get rid of my mistakes, the sponge sander is like my new eraser.

Continue the madness

I added the white paint to the top.

Since I knew that the brush strokes would be visible, I decided to go in a different direction with each coat. It took 3 coats on the top, but it was worth it.

Conclusion

Did anyone look at this post and think….she’s writing with sequencing?? Yes, we are practicing our story writing around here – First, Next, Then, and Finally….I passed.

Anyway – I love my “new” table and I think that I need a break from chalk paint. I’m stuck on the same colors and need to discover some more adventure….

I found a way to move into the front room already.

What do you think? Am I ready to move on to different colors??

Happy Decorating,
