How to Create a Better Way to Store your Movies

INSIDE: TIRED OF DVD’S AND BLU-RAYS TAKING OVER YOUR LIVING ROOM? CHECK OUT THIS EASY AND FUNCTIONAL BETTER WAY TO STORE YOUR MOVIES!

Movies are so essential to mom life. If you don’t have them, the children get unruly….HAHAH….they do that anyway but think about how much worse it would be?? Anyway, these giant blue and black containers take up a lot of space. And if you are like me, you want that clutter to go away!

Go get your little helpers and pull out all your movies. Trust me – you have to make a mess first but it won’t stay that way.

Then follow our step-by-step process for decluttering your movie mess and downsizing the movie madness:

First – Sort your movies into duplicates

You know the ones you HAD to replace when they came out on Blu-Ray?? This makes the DVD version a duplicate. Decide what other family would benefit from these treasures. And get them out of your pile!

Second – Remove the artwork

Take the artwork out of the outside cover. I found it easiest to bend the artwork on the pre-existing seam. The artwork will fit perfect into the new plastic holders. If it is a DVD/Blu-Ray combo, the DVD goes INSIDE the cover and the Blu-ray faces outward (I asked my all knowing husband and HE SAID Blu-Rays are much more scratch resistant).

Third – Into the new holders

The artwork, DVD, and Blu-ray went into the plastic. Everything should fit perfectly. There is a flap that covers the top of the plastic, I left mine open, but a little piece of tape would hold it closed it, if you wanted it to.

Fourth – Kids vs Parents

Use the BIG little brains to alphabetize and separate the movies. Both of my little people had so much fun doing this part.

We took all of the newly packaged movies and separated them into 2 piles. One for the kid movies and one for the parent movies and then the kids alphabetized the movies. When the kids were done, we put all the movies in our new storage bins.

It is so much easier to find a movie to watch now! They (the mess makers) keep it in order and everything is in its rightful place!

Fifth – Final resting place

Once they get sorted and separated, find some cute little bins and tuck them away in an available place.

Last – Originals

I left several movies in the original container like Star Wars The Complete Saga, Batman (Christian Bale versions), Planet Earth, and Baraka. There is something to be said for fancy packaging….Batman series came in the Bat Symbol…pretty cool!
