INSIDE: SEE HOW TO MAKE A COFFEE KITCHEN A COFFEE LOVER WILL LOVE
As promised, the next adventure in our new home decor was our kitchen. I didn’t want what everyone else had. No wine, no chickens, and no farmhouse.
So where do you start?
Something that every adult loves and NEEDS….COFFEE!!!!
As with every decorating project, you must find inspiration somewhere. In my case it was these coffee cup paintings that we used in the old house. They fit the color scheme and helped transition room to room. But….in this house….they only fit in one place. Once those were up, the inspiration took flight.
I can’t be the only person on the planet wanting a coffee kitchen, right?!?
To better organize my thoughts, I dedicated a whole Pinterest board to it.
There was very little on Pinterest to help me!!!! All I could see was “coffee bars,” well, I don’t have room for that and a “bar” to me includes wine not coffee….
So I decided to go to the cheap, outdated warehouse store (you know that one that smells funny and has super tacky decor) and thought, if this doesn’t net me something, I must change my kitchen idea!!!
Thank goodness I went! I found some amazing wall art that reminded me why I choose the coffee theme to begin with.
We had limited wall space to hang pictures so we utilized a space that nothing else would go….the tops of the cabinets. I found some old coffee tins on eBay.
Because there is crown at the top of the cabinets, it was difficult to see the whole coffee can so I cut a huge piece of floral foam into quarters and set the coffee tins on those.
I knew I could only go so far with the vintage coffee tins, so I had to expand my horizons. I went back to eBay…and (recall my Pinterest board) searched for vintage coffee grinders.
Also, I set a small terracotta pot upside down to help heighten the displays.
Anyway, the largest wall area is next to the back door, above the trash can, and a blank slate! I purchased these nesting shelves from Target for our old house but never hung them (I know…shocked!). So I laid everything I had out and tried to figure out what we could do. Kris said ‘let’s make a design.’ Ok….show me your skills honey!! And show me he did!
I was still missing things but it was coming together. I asked my handy man to make me a mail/key holder that I saw on Etsy….
However, I think ours turned out better. I used antique wax and made it look like a family heirloom.
I ordered the special coffee drink canvas I found on Pinterest but I haven’t framed it or figured out where to hang it. So for now it sits perched on this gem. Again….it’s a work in progress. Mainly because I have to take advantage of things when I see them.
I have a million other things I want to add…..guess I should start playing the lottery.
Just piece it together but have fun doing it!!!

I think a coffee kitchen is just what Connie needs…..has she made any decorating decisions you haven’t agreed with?
