INSIDE: HOW TO HOST A PREPPY BIRTHDAY PARTY FOR A TEENAGE GIRL. EVERYTHING YOU NEED WITHOUT BREAKING THE BANK AND STILL CREATE A MEMORABLE PARTY! I did not know this was a thing…but I guess all 13 year old girls want a preppy birthday party. What does that mean you ask? I had NO IDEA! But I took to Pinterest and found some realistic and NOT so realistic ideas. Keeping with my Party Planning Guide – I went to work. Disclosure Statement: The links in this post contain affiliate links and I will receive a small commission if you make a purchase after clicking on my link. Those funds help keep this site alive and kickin’ but it doesn’t cost YOU a thing! Click here for the full disclosure. If you have never used my planning guide before, what is wrong with you?? Kidding, but you should definitely start, like NOW!!! Come follow us on socials – Pinterest, Facebook, and Insta. 1 – Theme – check – preppy AKA – lots of pink and gold, smiley faces, lighting bolts, and stars – I’m not sure what makes this preppy BUT….I’m old so what do I know? Not sure of a theme? NO problem – check out my Birthday Party suggestions here. 2 – Location We decided to have it at our house, and against my better judgment…AGAIN….a sleepover. I mean she is going to be 13…BUT NO MORE after this! I mean it this time!!! Have you found a different place to have parties?? Let us know, we are always open to suggestions (and to get people out of the house). 3 – Date Her birthday fell on a Saturday this year so we picked that day to start our shenanigans. Remember to stay away from holidays and other birthdays. 4 – Invitations This one was a bit difficult for me. The young lady wanted to make, that’s right, MAKE her own invitations. Due to the sleepover, I put a limit on how many kiddos could be invited. So she literally made 6 individual invitations. On the invitation, she wrote hibachi for dinner but in the end we decided it was too expensive and time consuming – so we went with Chick Fil-A catering. If you want an invitation but don’t want to hand write, try these out – at Etsy and Zazzle. 5 – Decorations With A LOT of help from the birthday girl, we found some great things on Amazon. We also got the girls some glasses like these and props for pictures. Then she decided everyone needed to sleep in a TeePee (check out how we made them “coming soon”). We purchased individual trays like these and used the Cricut to put everyone’s name on them. ****UPDATE: I never made the post about making the TeePees because they were a disaster. Just rent them! The price for the dowels and twine plus the irritation from trying to get them correctly – not worth it. I promise….just rent them! 6 – Food When you have a picky eater as the birthday girl, you have to be creative with your menu. This year was easy, Chick Fil-A to the rescue. Nuggets, macaroni and cheese, and fruit. Unfortunately, I did not get pictures of the set up. Why you ask? Because I like to live in the moment these days. I swear these kids are growing so quickly. I’m waiting for someone to come pinch me and say….just kidding, they are still babies and they need you to do everything for them. Don’t get me wrong, I love their independence and ability to be self sufficient, I just worry that I’m gonna miss all of this! Hence, I put my phone down and enjoy. I digress……… Of course no birthday party is complete without dessert. Alas, my child does not like cake but will eat cupcakes. So we bought some generic ones for the grocery store (Publix has amazing ones if you have one near you) and stuck these decorations in the tops. Also to avoid spillage we opted for these cute Drink boxes instead of cups. 7 – Goody bags As always, give the kids something to go home with but don’t make the other parents mad…. Here are the bags the birthday girl picked – and then she added makeup bags, candy, and bracelets. And we let them take their trays home. There wasn’t anything we were going to be able to do with them after the party. Overall, it was a fun evening. Most of the girls did not sleep under the TeePee, they couldn’t see the TV…..or so they said. About 2 weeks after we did all of this, I discovered you can actually RENT the TeePees…………. Happy Partying,

INSIDE : COME WATCH HOW TO THROW A MAGICAL UNICORN BIRTHDAY PARTY WITHOUT BREAKING THE BANK! Finally, an easy party. Unicorns are awesome so having a unicorn birthday party was easy! Using our party planning guide, this party is a HUGE success. Disclosure Statement: The links in this post contain affiliate links and I will receive a small commission if you make a purchase after clicking on my link. Those funds help keep this site alive and kickin’ but it doesn’t cost YOU a thing! Click here for the full disclosure. Theme This year, we went away from a specific character, simply because she’s growing up. She wanted something “timeless.” I’m not kidding….her words! So she went with everyone’s favorite mystical creature – the Unicorn! Location She had so much fun last year at her sleepover, she asked for another one. Reluctantly, I said “yes but this is the last BIG one!” She had 8 of her friends and allowed her sister to invite 2 little ones. 12 – that means there were twelve 6-9 year old GIRLS in my house, at one time…..that was too many. But we survived and I can honestly say I WILL NEVER DO IT AGAIN! 3-4 girls – FINE! 12 – NOPE! Date The date was a little tricky this year because Thanksgiving break was changed due to our hurricane issues, so we did the party the weekend BEFORE her actual birthday. Saturdays are always best to do sleepovers. Parents don’t feel rushed. Sundays tend to be laid back days for most, so no one is chaotic picking up the kids. Although, Friday might be better for getting them to sleep! Invitations Now – don’t fall over – but I did not use Etsy for her invitations this year. I know….it felt VERY wrong…but it seems like the older they get, the less important the paper invites are. Besides, at 9 – if you don’t know her friends parents – you probably should. So I used something I have used before, with amazing success EVITE.com The best part? I didn’t have to wait for Moms and Dads to call. They just click the RSVP button and it came right to me! You send the invite to their phones! Hence, the comment “if you don’t know the parents of their friends, you probably should.” Especially at this age, it is really important that you know their friends and the families of those friends. They are very easily influenced and morals can come into question….. Decorations For decorations, we did balloons and some really cool little plates…guess where I found them? DUH! Target! Another trick I learned this year…..blow up your own balloons with this tank. I learned a trick from the last sleepover – don’t waste your money on organic juice boxes – the kids will drink a million of them and they are still high on sugar. So – this year – we went with Hawaiian Punch and plastic cups. How, you might ask, does that make more sense? Easy. Label maker! Make labels for all the children, stick it to the cups, and its there until the end of time….or the next morning. We used them as part of our goody bags too! Food Food was going to be hard since there were sooooo many little people. BUT what does every kid like? PIZZA! I just ordered a few large pizzas from our favorite pizza place, had them delivered, and set out some unicorn birthday party themed snacks. Menu Frozen Yogurt Cubes Supplies Directions Unicorn Pretzel Horns Supplies Directions Games My favorite part of EVERY party is the games. I love to find things that will keep them entertained for more than 10 minutes. Pin the Tail on the Unicorn So the birthday girl is a pretty good drawer – an Ar-tee-st if you will. Using her plates as her guide, she drew the unicorn on the poster board. Each child made their own horn using metallic markers and plain white paper. If you want to make it easier, you can print the horn from a website and just have them color the horn, but again….I’m looking for TIME WASTERS!!!! Unicorn Horn Toss Supplies Directions After a few hours of partying, the girls got PJs on, brushed their teeth and returned to the living room – ready to watch a movie. The birthday girl had already decided that she wanted to watch Incredibles 2. We made several bags of popcorn and hoped for the best! Goody Bags The next morning, everyone got a unicorn Pop-Tart and a goody bag. We put paper straws, unicorn erasers, unicorn memo pads and the previously mentioned plastic cups inside the bags, and wished everyone on their merry way! We all survived……and there will STILL NEVER be another sleepover birthday party in this house! How do you feel about sleepovers? Would you plan your own unicorn birthday party? Happy Party Planning,

INSIDE: HOW TO THROW A SUPER FUN SESAME STREET BIRTHDAY PARTY COMPLETE WITH DECORATION IDEAS AND SIMPLE GAMES! Two little people that I know loved Sesame Street when they were about to turn 3. Since their first dual birthday party was such a success and I had so much fun planning it, I decided to throw them a Sesame Street Birthday Party. Disclosure Statement: The links in this post contain affiliate links and I will receive a small commission if you make a purchase after clicking on my link. Those funds help keep this site alive and kickin’ but it doesn’t cost YOU a thing! Click here for the full disclosure. Theme Using my birthday planning guide, I started with the theme as above, can you tell me how to get….how to get to Sesame Street!!!! Location and Date We picked a date based on warmer weather. And we wanted to be able to have another bounce house for the kids (it was a huge success last year) so we decided to have the party at my house. Keeping in mind that we need it to be warm, not hot, and relatively rain free (away from Spring rains on the coast), we choose May 9th. Low and behold – we had a tropical storm come through (three weeks before the technical start of “hurricane season”). So emergently we brought the party inside. We already had tables and chairs, thank goodness! Let me talk about the tables and chairs for a minute, we borrowed them from the hotel my husband runs but….I would have rented them if need be. This is the second year in a row they have come in handy for eating and playing our games with kids. Invitations Of course, I found the perfect invitation on Etsy for $12. It was more expensive than most because it included a picture of the birthday kids. I printed them at Walgreens, as it is the best option. Decorations For decorations, I got on Pinterest and found some really cool things to help us decorate the house. I used this tutorial to make different kinds of Sesame Street characters. I stopped at my favorite place to pick up the rest of the decorations. Sesame Street plates, cups, and napkins were readily available at my local Target…..so that’s where I went! Food Since the party was rather close to lunch time, I wasn’t sure how much food to make. So here is our Sesame Street Birthday Party food: Menu I forgot to print the Sesame Street food labels ahead of time, so I made makeshift labels with cardstock. Instead of having characters everywhere, I used table cloths that were plain colors like this yellow one. I made a cake so the kids could have candles to blow out. BUT……I wrote all pretty on top of it and asked my oldest child to sprinkle some funfetti on it….. The star of the food was the cupcakes, as always!!! They were made by a family friend and she got so super creative with these. The cupcakes matched the icing, the details on their eyes, and the cookies for mouths, she really outdid herself. Seriously, I think my dad (who hates cake) ate 12 of them! Games The original plan was a bouncy house with the Sesame Street characters but the storm cancelled those plans and we were forced to think on the fly. Keeping children entertained can be challenging, especially with short notice. So we went with: When there was a break in the wind and rain, we took them outside and let them blow bubbles. It was incredible, the kids would blow bubbles and the neighborhood would fill with the bubbles. Goody Bags Goody bags for this party were limited. We had bubbles, one bag of M&Ms, and they took home their playdough. I know my party planning guide said NOTHING messy. But in this case, we had to use some of our “goodies” for the party given the circumstance. We had a lot of fun despite the weather, hope this helps guide you for your Sesame Street Birthday Party too! Happy planning, Have you tried any of these ideas? Share your photos with us!!!

INSIDE : COME SEE HOW TO THROW THE PERFECT SUPERHERO BIRTHDAY PARTY FOR KIDS – GAME IDEAS, FOOD, AND GOODIE BAG IDEAS INCLUDED! Everyone loves a good superhero birthday party. Am I right? Well, our duo (my youngest and my nephew) are no different. So using my ultimate party planning guide, I started the process. Want a copy of the guide? Get it here. Disclosure Statement: The links in this post contain affiliate links and I will receive a small commission if you make a purchase after clicking on my link. Those funds help keep this site alive and kickin’ but it doesn’t cost YOU a thing! Click here for the full disclosure. Theme The kids decided on the theme this year. They came to an agreement and it was perfect for both of them. Superheroes! My nephew is a SPIDERMAN freak and my daughter loves Wonder Woman. Location Keeping the superhero theme in mind, we decided my house would be the best place to have this party. However, I am told that trampoline parks will help with this theme but don’t discount Build-a-Bear and rooms you can rent in hotels, recreation centers, and community centers. Date Check with other parents to make sure you don’t plan parties on the same day. Also, if you are planning on outdoor activites, be sure to check the weather otherwise you have to be able to move the games inside. Hence why trampoline parks would be a GREAT place to have this theme party! Invitations I am not a comic book girl, but I LOVE MARVEL movies!!!! Iron Man, Thor, X-men, Dead Pool…..yes please! Oh but the kids….they like them too. They had no idea that their 2 favorites were from different comic “worlds” so I had to find an invitation that had Spiderman and Wonder Woman. Who came to the rescue?? Etsy. That site has saved my life. I swear!! For $6.75 I got this cute invitation. Decorations This may have been the easiest party to do decorations for because Target had all the plates, table covers, and napkins we needed. Since we had to find Justice League and Avengers, Target had a great mix of each kind to make everyone happy. And of course, I used my REDCARD and got 5% off my entire purchase!!! Then I turned my focus to games and getting the kids outside!! We also used toys the kids already had to help us decorate. Food I kept the food simple, it was at 3pm so I didn’t feel obligated to feed them a meal. Menu Oh boy…..the cupcakes were so special as they were made by a special family friend for the birthday kiddos! Games I had the most fun planning games for the kids. Since it was a superhero birthday party, all games were centered around the heroes. First, we gave them their superhero costumes which included masks and capes. Some kids came dressed in some kind of superhero shirt or costume and even a few moms and dads!!! Then we went outside to play our games. Frisbee toss Supplies Directions Spider Web Throwing Supplies Directions Hulk Weight Lifting Challenge Supplies Directions Superman Wind Bowling Contest This was a simple game to plan, because I just grabbed some bubbles and put them in a basket. One bottle per kid! Sky Scraper Fly By Challenge We pulled out our small outdoor slide then told the kids to slide down, jump down, or scale up the side. Goodie Bags The goodie bags for this party were filled with all the things we used for our games including silly string (if there was any left), bubbles, frisbees, capes, and masks as well as the certificate they earned. We had a lot of fun with this party. I hope this helps you have a great superhero birthday party too!!!! Happy Party Planning, What kind of birthday parties do you have? Give us some ideas!!!!

INSIDE: Plan the ultimate Paw Patrol birthday party, with tips on decorations, food, and more to create a fun and memorable celebration for your little one Paw Patrol is a HUGE hit in our family. We all love those pups!!! So for a certain pair of 4 year olds, we planned the perfect Paw Patrol Birthday! Keeping to my fool proof planning guide, we planned an awesome Paw Patrol Birthday Party. Theme My nephew and youngest daughter are about 2 months apart, so we often have combo parties for them. This was no exception. My sister and I consulted with the kids on the theme. They agreed to Paw Patrol and off we went. Location As I’ve mentioned before, I love having kids parties at my home because I can do so much more. Such as, have a variety of food items, decorations, and we can have the party at our own pace. More on these things in a minute. But a few ideas if you would rather have the celebration outside of your house: Remember kids this age like to make a mess, expend energy, and have fun. Most of these places will let you rent a room with the activities. Date Since one kid’s birthday is in March, the other is May and we wanted to wait for school to be out, we picked June 5th. Most of our parties are on Saturday, but for this one we did Sunday afternoon because there was a concert in town on Saturday. Remember to consider holidays, weekends, when your venue is available, and potential other parties. Invitations For this party, I went on Etsy and searched for Paw Patrol. I found a TON of super cute invitations. After purchasing the invitation from an Etsy store, I printed the invitations at Walgreen’s. A 4×6 print is 29 cents…..so $5.99 for the personalized, digital invitation and $5.80 for 20 prints. Total of $12 – not bad, considering if you purchase 20 hand written invitations at Target – you’d spend $10 plus tax and your poor hand to write all the info…… Decorations Next, I searched Amazon, because why go to a store when you can shop in your jammies!! They had almost everything we needed for decorations including plates, table cover, napkins, and party favors! Also if you wanted to add balloons – click here for another option. We also made our own centerpieces. Centerpieces Supplies – Instructions Food Now for the NUM NUMs!!!! I found these super cute dog food bowls at Dollar Tree, they were perfect for our kid friendly finger foods. I have ton of colorful trays and bowls from various different parties, which we use for almost every party now. Menu As for a cake…..we like cupcakes much better. When thinking about children and cakes….I kinda cringe. Blowing out candles – ummmmm, not post COVID. Cupcakes are safer, you can still sing, one candle on the birthday kiddos cupcakes means they are the only ones exposed to their germs!!! Games (or lack thereof) For this party, I did not plan any games. The kids wanted to open presents and play with whatever they got. I was completely fine with this idea. When we have double parties, like this one, we stay pretty busy. But if you check out this post from Crayons and Spice, you will get some great ideas. Goody Bags Now, let’s talk about the goody bags, I cannot say this enough…..do not waste your money on useless, pointless stuff. Do not send kids home with things that make a mess, annoy parents, or cause hyperactivity. It’s just mean!!! I found little stuffed puppies in bulk here, enough for each kid to “adopt” one and take it home. Using these printed adoption certificates, each child named their puppy before they got their goody bag.
